I don't want to think about the future

It's scary and depressing and nothing seems to ever get better. I don't want to think about it, I don't want to hear speculation about it, I don't want to watch Tom Scott's new YouTube video about it. (Unless, I guess, I'm paid to do so.) Cowardly, I guess so, but hey, it saves me stress. I can just build my own data hoard in peace, a diskful of files, independent of YouTube's or Amazon's servers. This is a part of it, too: Neocities runs on AWS, but I'm reassured by the zipfiles I've downloaded.


Text has a higher chance of being preserved than video. Text is more sustainable. It's fewer bits per symbol, fewer bits per idea.
